Designer should listen. I believe that good designers always listen to their users, colleagues, developers, product managers, and other stakeholders in order to come up with better solutions.
Designer should imagine. Good designers are good at imagining how the design will be implemented and used. They should also think about how the user will react to the workflow and what potential pain points might arise. All of these things start with putting yourself in someone else's shoes.
Designer should find the real problem. For example, when someone says they can't see a button well, it doesn't necessarily mean that the button needs a different color. It could be that the button needs a new label. As a designer, it's your job to find the real problem.
